Here are 3 easy green habits to start and stick to:

Start Recycling:

  • Take batteries and light bulbs to a recycling centre. Most Pick n Pays have recycling bins.
  • Make separate bins for paper, plastics and glass and take them to a recycling centre or sign up for a recycling pick up service. Many areas have pick up services. Check if yours does and if it doesn’t, why not start one and get your area recycling?  Check our Green Directory for Recycling companies
  • Make a compost heap in your garden for fruit and vegetable waste. Add your lawn clippings, leaves, weeds and all garden waste to this pile. Water and turn it, and be rewarded with lovely compost for your garden.
  • Buy a wormery for kitchen scraps and use the compost and worm wee on your favourite plants. The kids love these, so its a great way to get them involved. Click this link to buy or see more details on Wormeries. Delivered Nationwide.

Start using eco-friendly cleaning products:

  • The products that you use to clean your home and wash your dishes and clothes end up in our water. When you use chemical cleaning products, you are adding chemicals to our water and polluting it. These chemicals adversely affect animal life, plant life and human life. We all have a right to clean, healthy water. Play your part by choosing the products that you use with care. Start using eco-friendly personal grooming products:

  • The shampoo, soap and toothpaste that you use gets washed into our water. When you use products containing chemicals,  you are adding these chemicals to our water and polluting it. These chemicals are harmful to animal life, plant life and human life. We all have a right to clean, healthy water. Play your part by choosing the products that you use with care. Click here to buy and see more details on eco-friendly, chemical-free soap, shampoo and toothpaste.
