Do we get our Minerals from our Drinking water?

Jul 13, 2011 by

No, we do not get our RDA of minerals from our drinking water. This is a big misconception. Water will naturally contain some minerals but not in enough concentration (or balance) to meet our bodies need for minerals. Minerals, like vitamins, are derived from our daily food intake, not our water intake.

Don’t be concerned by the fact that the most effective water purification systems remove the minerals from your tap water along with the other impurities. It is highly unlikely that the minerals that were in the tap water were in a balanced spectrum in any case. Rest assured that you made a good choice if your water purifier can do this.

And then there is also the question of whether our bodies can actually use the minerals found in water. The minerals in water are inorganic minerals. They are basically dissolved stone. According to health advocates like Norman Walker and Paul Bragg these inorganic minerals actually cause the body a  great deal of harm and are the hidden cause of many ailments.

The minerals found in natural foods (plants such as fruits, vegetables and herbs) are organic and easily used by the body. Through the process of photosynthesis, plants perform the important function of taking the inorganic minerals from the ground and converting them to an organic form. When we eat the plant (fruit, vegetables and herb) our bodies receive life-giving organic minerals.

We recommend:

  • If you want minerals in your water – then add minerals to your water! But do it in a balanced spectrum (and in a form the body can use) with a quality supplement, such as Concentrace Ionic minerals. Click here to see the different Mineralisers available from our online shop
  • Use natural, non-toxic products in your home for your household cleaning chores. The products that we use in our homes get washed down the drain and into our water supply. Thanks for your enquiry. I recommend that you either use a Water distiller or a Reverse Osmosis water purifier.

A Water distiller will give you the purest water and is counter top appliance that you simply plug in, fill and switch on. Its switches off automically when a cycle is complete. You can order and see prices and the different models available by clicking this link:

This is the most popular model – Its simple to use, works very well and is well priced:

A Reverse Osmosis water purifier will give you the next purest water (after distilled water) and is a fitted system. You fit it under your sink and as part of the system a extra tap is fitted on the top of the counter or sink from which you then get your purified water from. It can produce around 120l a day.
