Strawberries make a great spring tonic.

Strawberries are rich in vitamin C, and the minerals calcium, phosphorus, and potassium.  They also contain organic salycilates, which are natural painkillers, and a basic ingredient of painkillers such as aspirin.

Spring strawberries are highly cleansing to the blood, tissues, and muscles – in short, strawberries are Nature’s answer to a long winter indoors.  They can also be used effectively as a mild diuretic.

It is best to use locally grown strawberries in season.  Many berries grown in foreign countries or shipped across the country tend not to be as sweet and flavourful, or as juicy as locally grown strawberries.  In addition, there are many objectionable chemicals used to grow commercial strawberries that are shipped across the country or imported from other countries. Local produce is often also sprayed with chemicals so its recommended to look for producers that are growing naturally.
